Professional visits

Student nurses

Student nurses can come for a four to six week placement as part of their nursing degree programme. This is arranged by the course tutor at the university who then informs the Nurse Manager at the Hospice.

Student nurses may come for a day while on tier community nursing placement with the District Nursing Team. To discuss this opportunity, please contact:

  • 01252 729400 extension 503 (leave message if no reply)

The day involves working on the ward, attending Day Hospice, meeting with a member of the Clinical Nurse Specialist team, talking to members of the multiprofessional team and attending the ward multidisciplinary meeting.

Medical students/Qualified doctors

A day visit (or longer) can be arranged via the medical secretariat. Please contact:

  • 01252 729443 or 729404

Time can be spent on the ward, in Day Hospice, on the ward round and discussing patient care with the multiprofessional team. The day(s) can be tailored to suit individual aims/objectives.
